Mary Copple

 

Mary Copple is a qualified dancer. In 1973, she gained a Diploma of Dance in Education with Drama as a second subject at Dartington College of Arts in England. In the 1970s, she took part in multimedia theatre productions in Liverpool, Amsterdam, and in London, where she established her own dance studio.

 

In 2002, she completed her studies at the Free University Berlin with a Magister in French Philology (Linguistics major) and Information Science. In her work as a movement researcher, she focuses on movement analysis and training.

 

Her research interests include the relationship between bodily movement and language, and the integration of the Laban-Bartenieff material in educational programs for design and architecture students.  Insight into this venture, which was initiated within the framework of the exploring the motion space project, is presented in the following clip:
